Streamlight ProTac HL-X Flashlight Black 1000 Lumens

The Streamlight ProTac HL-X in black, rated at 1000 lumens.

We stock this alongside a USB rechargeable HL-X at about twenty-six dollars more. That is roughly what the rechargeable capability costs across most brands, and it pays for itself somewhere between the fifth and the tenth set of CR123A cells — sooner if you use the light weekly, never if it lives in a drawer and comes out twice a year.

The unglamorous version: buy the rechargeable if you have a charging habit, and the disposable-cell version if you do not.
