The Streamlight Sledge headlamp in black, rated at 600 lumens with a stated beam distance of 85 meters — about 93 yards.
Beam distance is the more useful of those two numbers and it is the one most manufacturers leave off. It is measured to the point where the light has fallen to roughly the brightness of a full moon, which is the honest definition of the far edge of useful. Eighty-five meters means you can put light on the far side of a clearing and expect to see something there rather than just a glow.

A headlamp is the right tool for the two jobs that matter most after dark in elk country: field dressing, and getting out with a loaded pack. Both need both hands.
