Streamlight MacroStream USB Flashlight Black 500 Lumens

The Streamlight MacroStream USB in black, rated at 500 lumens — twice the output of the MicroStream and about fifty percent more money.

Doubling lumens does not double how far you can see. Light falls off with the square of distance, so twice the output buys roughly forty percent more usable range, all else equal. That is a real improvement and it is not the improvement most people think they are buying. If reach is what you are after, beam distance is the specification to compare, not lumens.

A good all-round size: bright enough to be useful outside, small enough that it actually gets carried.
