Lumens measure total light output, not how far a light throws. A high-lumen flood lights up everything within twenty feet and tells you nothing about what is at two hundred. If distance is what you need, ask about beam distance rather than buying on lumens alone.

Rechargeable is cheaper to run and brighter than the same light on alkaline. The trade is that a flat battery in the field cannot be swapped for one from a gas station, which is why plenty of people keep an alkaline light in the truck as well.
